With copy service papers - Thomas Dexter served as a Sgt. in the unit, enlisting on 7/12/00 and being discharged on 28/6/01 "time expired". His conduct was "very good" and he lived at 42 Ebenezer Road, Cape Town.
The C.-in-C.'s Bodyguard was raised by Lord Roberts in January 1900 and consisted of picked colonial volunteers. In November 1900 it became a larger fighting unit and operated in Orange River Colony until July 1901.
