War Medal; G.S.M. 1918-62 (G.VI.R.) one clasp 'Malaya' (Sgt., R.A.S.C.). Mtd as worn with relating miniatures and a ribbon bar. With a pewter tray (10" diameter) engraved "Presented To Major (Q.M.) J. Statham R.C.T. By The Officers A.S.M.T. October 1978". John Statham was born at Alton, Hants., on 1/7/29 and served in the ranks for 21 years and 49 days. He was promoted to W.O.1. (R.S.M.) (Driver) on 15/5/63 and was then commissioned into the R.C.T. - Lieut. 21/2/66, Capt. (Q.M.) 22/5/69, Major (Q.M.) 6/10/75. With photocopies of the R.C.T. Journal showing that in the 1960s he served as R.S.M. of the 433rd (Forth) Transport Column R.A.S.C. (T.A.) and at H.Q. R.A.S.C. (A.E.R.); he was later an officer with 10 Regt., 12 Driver Training Regt. and at the R.C.T. Depot as well as at H.Q. N.E. District U.K.L.F.
