G.S.M. 1918-62 one clasp 'Palestine' (Pte., R.A.O.C.); 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star; Defence & War Medals. Surname officially corrected on G.S.M. With two small medallions (one silver, one bronze) of the Duke of York's Royal Military School (both named to the recipient, awarded for running 1929-30). With eight original reports from the D.O.Y.R.M.S. charting his progress through the school 1926-29; during his time there he rose from 44th in his class to 2nd. See above for a sample of these reports. With a copy of the G.S.M. roll confirming the award as a Gnr. R.A. attached to R.A.O.C.; medal issued on 18/8/44, roll states "now serving with the R.A.O.C.". He was commissioned into R.A.O.C. 8/8/42, W.S./Lieut. the same day and transferred to R.E.M.E. on 1/10/42. Alan Herbert Conolly was born at Alverstoke, Hants., on 7/3/15; he married Eva Goodhind at Dartford, Kent, on 16/9/39 at which time he was a S./Sgt. in R.A.O.C. He died at Gravesend, Kent, in August 2001 aged 86.
